The half-inch Chi is difficult to find in salons and stores, and this makes me wonder if women think they don't have any straightening and smoothing options since the larger Chi is just too clumsy and won't get to the hairline for those of us who have short styles or are in a growing-out stage. My hairstylist introduced me to this and swore to me it would be worth the money. I have hair that easily gets frizzy and poodle like, but not cute and curly. I'm growing it out; at this time I have a chin-length bob.
The half-inch Chi has never given me any burns, it heats up as quickly as the larger one (I previously had longer hair so I have a full-size Chi), and it can get right against the scalp. I swear I was using this when my hair was less than an inch long on top. It has a dial to adjust the temperature when you only need a little heat to smooth out one or two areas. I have a short bob that I am growing out so I needed a flat iron that could really reach my roots so that I can get them really straight. This half inch Chi does the job. It's very easy to grip/control, and I love that I can select the heat setting. It gets really hot, very fast without burning my hair. I do use a heat protector spray first. Love the color as well (fire red). After a month of using this flat iron, the red coloring is beginning to fade/ rub off of the product, which is not good imo.
